No TV Coverage Of Kenduskeag This Year

WABI-TV, the CBS affiliate which usually broadcasts the action from the bridge overlooking Six Mile Falls, will not be televising the race this year.

A phone call to the sports desk at WABI confirmed this; the low water levels will likely lead to many portages, resulting in dull coverage.

However, this should not be taken to mean that the Kenduskeag will be cancelled. Nor should a television producer's idea of the "excitement factor" of this race be taken as a signal that paddlers won't have an exciting afternoon. I'm betting otherwise.

Said it before, will say it again. Don't let the rumors or news get you down. The race is on!

Stay tuned (so to speak).

One day we are high as kites, the next day depressed. Thirteen (13)Gonzos are sitting up here in Nova Scotia, still looking toward a 5:00am departure Friday morning, so as to arrive in time to register, avoiding the 1:00pm, $13.00, penalty and get a chance to run the 'White Water' section between Six Miles and the Shopping Cart. Not sounding too 'white'?

.....and it's all your fault, Sungod! Just kidding.
If it makes you feel any better, we're supposed to get at least one more day of rain (70% chance of showers) on Thursday.
I'm planning to scout the stream again soon, and I'll have some stream photos posted just before the race.
Also, there are some folks connected to the race committee who are keeping me updated on a daily basis, so I'll be certain to post any news as I hear it.
So far I haven't heard much (other than the TV thing).
