See You On The Stream

Latest news: the race course will remain unchanged; the finish line in downtown Bangor will be the same. Water temperature is 38 degrees. Parks & Recreation and the search & rescue crews foresee no problems with the stream conditions.

Paddlers of the Kenduskeag are in for a treat. Water levels are amazing (some say the best it's been in 15 or 20 years) and the weather is perfect. The 2007 race is going to be a BLAST.

Be safe and have fun.

If you didn't preregister for the race, you may register from 6:30am until 7:30am on race day in the village of Kenduskeag. (But don't be late!)

And for those of you staying home: the race will be televised from 10:00am until 12:30pm on WABI-TV5.

WLBZ will have the video posted on the internet in 15-minute chunks so you can watch it live or after the race. How cool is that?

Also, the race will also be streamed live on the internet through Watch Maine Sports as a pay-per-view event. ($9.95 per stream).

Here's the latest update from Clayton Cole:
"Here is an update from the race committee: The only change in the event will be for boats arriving downtown after 2pm. High tide will probably prohibit safe passage under the last two bridges (finish line) Competitors who take more than 4 hrs or so to finish will be stopped on river right behind the old Bangor PD. I ran the river from above 6 mile to the downtown at about 12pm. EXCELLENT WW! We have suffered through 10 yrs of low to barely avg water. Finally some decent water for what is supposed to be a WW race. After the first portage you can stay on the left shore all the way to the 2nd portage and avoid the crossing below the I95 bridge. The crossing is not difficult though - a war canoe made it easily. The main hazardous area is shopping cart with a large center hole. Easy if taken on the right shore STAY ON THE BANK. If you find this intimidating you can legally portage past shopping cart and put in before the Harlow St bridge - good trail off the street and very easy put in at the North end of the parking lot. Other than this all the other WW from 6 mi falls down is pushy class II+ there are no rocks to hit and the water has receded from the trees and shore for the most part. Know your ability but paddle with authority and confidence! Dont forget your floatation - tie in securely!!"
