No TV Coverage Of Kenduskeag Race

No need to set the VCR or Tivo this year if you are doing the race.

WABI-TV (Channel 5 in Bangor) has decided not to provide television coverage of the 2009 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race due to budget priorities. (Story here)

The race will be broadcast on the radio and streamed on the web, however:
"For the 13th straight year, Bangor all-sports radio station WZON (620 AM) will provide live coverage of the race on radio. It will also stream live coverage on the internet (www.zoneradio.com). Coverage will start at 8 a.m."

Hi -
there are lots of places to watch the race. Since there is no TV this year, the bridge overlooking Six Mile Falls won't have as many of the big TV trucks and generators taking up all the room. So that would be a great place to watch the race. Or the bank below the bridge - that's also very nice.

You can find lots of places at picnic pullouts and so on closer to town along Valley Avenue up to Harlow Street.

And finally, there are lots of views closer to the finish line in downtown Bangor. Anywhere along the canal is good.

No coverage??? We're angry. We are elderly and live to far away to go in person. Guess we'll stick to watching WLBZ news from now on. You're going downhill all the time.

Hi Dorothy - actually the race was covered earlier today on television (WABI).

This post is from two years ago, when the TV stations didn't cover the race due to budget problems or programming conflicts.
